OMG!!! I WROTE A No.1 BESTSELLER!!!
🚨 Spoiler alert: No I did not!
Has anyone else noticed - that everyone who writes a book is a bestselling author? Everyone has a No.1 Amazon Best Selling title in the {business} category.
I'm not sure if it is just LinkedIn skewing my perception or if the world has truly gone mad.
Everyone has to be THE BEST.
FEATURED IN FORBES (like that's an achievement now, and we don't know you paid for the PR.)
30 under 30
20 under 20
10 under 10.
EVERYONE IS THE FASTEST TO REACH A MILLION OF THIS OR THAT.
FIRST TO DO X, AND THE BEST AT Y.
What happened to regular people doing their best and giving it all they got without the fake successful online persona?
It sounds like I am bitter - but truly I am not; it's just sad to see that people who could actually do some good and have quality things to share fail in the first steps thinking that "the audience" is that stupid and gullible.
We. Are. NOT.
Painting yourself in a curated way and building the facade of "easy breezy success" makes a lot of people feel undervalued and even worse a failure.
If you are reading this and you think you could do better, and you know it will take time to get there - you are right. Keep digging!
Don't be fooled by "I wrote a book in 7 days and built a business in a month" people taking photos with rented Bugattis. You are better than them.
P.S. the book is actually in progress - for the past 2 years... I'll let you know when I have it. And I will not call it a bestseller with 4 reviews. Promise! 🫡
